Waking up on Christmas morning without your kiddos is a very
unpleasant feeling to say the least. From the day you know there is a little
one on the way you already begin planning and dreaming of the so many special
occasions, holidays, birthdays and everything that will come their way. You
anticipate all the excitement, the pure joy you feel to see their face light up
with nothing but happiness. It is all that goodness in one tiny little toddler
package.
But then things don’t go as planned and you are soon trying
to figure out how all these things, events, occasions are going to happen under
two different roofs. It’s overwhelming, it’s hard, it’s hurt and it involves a
lot of crying, but it isn’t the end. And it won’t ruin things for your kiddos
if you don’t let it. More than anything kids want happy parents, whether that
be together or separate, they want happy parents. They want happy times and
good memories.
Christmas morning is not about waking up on December 25th
to a picture perfect family in your kiddos eyes. CHRISTMAS IS A SEASON, it’s
weeks of traditions, family and love. It’s dinners with friends, it’s parties,
it’s lights and adventure. It’s about making memories. Christmas is what you
make of it and when you make it. It’s the smile on their face and the joy in
their laughter. No matter the day, no matter the time.
So while it may be difficult, if you are waking up alone,
you aren’t alone. Don’t beat yourself up over it and feel down. Know that your
kiddo doesn’t care if it’s the 25th of December, they care that it’s
Christmas time, whatever that time may be. They care about the memories made.
Each and every holiday, occasion, event, or day is what you make of it for
them.
